November 30th saw plenty of people gathering in a large tent on the site of the summer school for the public presentation of the outcome of the cooperative review process Building a Proposition for Future Activites. Together with all active players in the project we are happy to tell you that the proposal submitted by the project office under the lead of Atelier Bow-Wow was ranked first in the jury meeting on October 5th 2017.

Summary of the jury’s recommendation to f & w fördern und wohnen (owner and builder)
‘The design is characterized by a simple, single-storey construction with a primary support system as a framework in wood. The spanning roofs and can be easily and inexpensively manufactured in an open-build process. The floor plan principle is efficient, as the areas between the living rooms can be used as traffic areas, service zones as well as extensions of the central areas. The proposal best organises the proposed programme. The uniform grid of slender columns emphasizes open spatial interrelations and at the same time allows uncomplicated construction with differentiated partitions, walls, balustrades, folding doors, etc. The construction, which is defined by the angled corners in an octagonal form, is accessible on all sides and thus embeds well into the surrounding landscape. The proposal captivates with its flexible spatial concept, which makes it possible to group small community units (‘living rooms’) into larger units and thus allow adaptions in relation to uses. The design approach derives from the detailed analysis of past, current and future modes of urban living. The proposal problematizes encounter and the project’s motive Building a Proposition for Future Activities in the relation of public and private. The proposal is generous yet intimate on an urban and architectural scale. The jury emphasised the collaborative realisation process of the project tested during the architecture workshop on site.’ Atelier Bow-Wow is working to revise its proposal for all upcoming aspects of the project until January
