25-26/09/2025 Urban Design Thesis Presentations

We are excited to invite you to this year’s Presentations of the Urban Design Master’s Theses Projects on Thursday, 25.9. and Friday 26.9.2025!

Over two days, 20 students will present a total of 17 urban design theses that reflect the diversity and complexity of urban life. These works examine the intertwined and dynamic processes of our cities and critically analyze the various ecological, political, spatial, and social challenges of everyday urban life.

The projects presented range from large-scale infrastructure projects and their political, ecological, and social entanglements, to various cultures of mourning, the everyday lives of young people around the Reeperbahn, the sense of safety in the city, and the intimacy of the sauna. The wide range of research areas, topics, and methodological approaches of the final theses in the Urban Design teaching and research department demonstrate the complexity and diversity of our field of research. The theses present the city as a dynamic field that is constantly being (re)produced and negotiated, and in whose designing, shaping and negotiating we are all involved.

We are looking forward seeing you there!
