27/06/24 “Future Visions : New urbanity & New architecture @ NYC, Istanbul, Moscow, Athens, and Izmir” lecture by Ayşe Şentürer
The talk will be about the work of the architectural design studio with the theme of "Future Visions: New urbanism and New architecture", run by Ayşe Şentürer at the faculty of architecture of Istanbul Technical University. Future Visions Studio places itself in a critical-cultural and imaginative position by working on the border-lines of cities, applying architectural-cinematographic sections / sectional montages, and looking for the future visions. The goal is to understand, reveal and project today’s metropolises −space-time-life interactions− and design the new architectural intervals there. With in this scope, the Studio brings two attitudes together: contextual-situational and imaginaryspeculative. In the process, project proposals appear first as texts/manifestos and images, then scenarios and tables, and then architectural programs, spatial organisations, and building forms and finally as the architectural and urban design projects. “Future Visions: New urbanity & New architecture” projects were practiced in five metropolises: New York, Istanbul, Moscow, Athens, and Izmir between 2016 and 2018.
