Interface der Stadt – Leit- und Orientierungssysteme in Hamburg am Beispiel Jungfernstieg // Interface of the city – Wayfinding and orientation systems in Hamburg using the example of Jungfernstieg 2016
In our daily life we are surrounded by numerous way finding systems – we might not even recognize them anymore. They address diverse recipients and are initiated by different responsible parties over time, which is why each system is designed in a certain way.
In this master project two way finding systems were juxtaposed; both target pedestrians and are located in the heart of Hamburg. The research analysis was not only focusing on the systems’ design language and their positioning but also on the urban development of the space over time, the composition of the responsible parties and first and foremost: their individual usage by people. The user-centred approach makes it possible to create awareness about people’s perception and needs in certain surroundings and situations. Furthermore user-centred insights enable to easily make improvements and create better experiences in the future.
