Robert Burghardt is an academic member of staff at the research and teaching programme Urban Design at HafenCity University Hamburg since 2017. Since studying architecture at the Glasgow School of Art and at the University of Technology, Berlin, he works as a freelance architect, focussing on community led- and initiated projects. Parallel and in-between he has taught at different institutions such as the Nuremburg Academy of Fine Art, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology as well as at the Munich Academy of Fine Art.
Under the theoretical framework of an aesthetic ‘realism,’ Robert Burghardt is interested in the politics of representation vs. politics of production in architecture and the critical moment of the client-architect relationship within that complex. At Urban Design he works on the project „Community Building Poppenbüttel – Building a Propostion for Future Activities“ and facilitates the implementation of the project.
