Helmut Völter is an artist and designer based in Berlin. He studied graphic design at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (HGB) in Leipzig, and was a design researcher at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht. His design practice revolves around the book, both as a medium for ideas, narratives and voices, and as a tactile and visual object. In his artistic work he has researched the history of scientific cloud photography, in particular the cloud studies of the physicist and photographer Masanao Abe.
