Based on two cases of slum urbanization will be presented as a strategy for the permanence of its residents with security and quality. The cases show how social participation, the environment and the right to the city collaborate in the construction of alternatives to precarious settlements.
About the lecturer:
Jeferson Tavares is a professor at the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism (IAU-USP). Leader of the Group Research, Teaching and Extension Practices in Urbanism and coordinator of the LaborLEU – Laboratório de Experiências Urbanísticas). Works in the areas of Architecture and Urbanism and Urban and Regional Planning. Develops research and technical work on the following themes: Urbanization Process, Metropolization, Urban Dispersion, Spatial Planning, Public Policies, Intermunicipal Consortia, Urban and Regional Infrastructure, Green Infrastructure, Precarious Settlements, Environmental and Social Vulnerability, Inequality and Socio-territorial Segregation, History of the City, and History of Urbanism.
