Urban Voids. Re-ordering the Urban through Dissent? 2018
The Urban Design Thesis Project "Urban Voids. Re-ordering the Urban through Dissent?", discusses urban principles of order for dealing with migration, such as an amendment to squatting law, a new police directive on counter-terrorism and the closure of a central initial accommodation in Brussels. These orders are examined on the basis of three case studies on the dissents that emerge. The analysis of these dissents reveals new orders that become visible and are analyzed as voids. Finally, questions are raised about the political potential of these voids for a re-negotiation of the urban.
