Marko Mijatovic studied film at the University of Fine Arts, Hamburg. In his exploration of the medium of film, he examines the interplay between documentation and staging, and their practical applications in an interdisciplinary context. Film production as practice is thereby understood as a crucial way of gaining knowledge, and this is inscribed in the resulting filmic work. His work has been shown in numerous festivals and various exhibition spaces (including Belvedere 21 in Vienna, Winterhur Museum Switzerland, DOK Leipzig, and the Sarajevo Film Festival, among others) and has received multiple awards, for example from the Association of German Film Critics at the Berlinale. In 2019 he held a teaching position at the HFBK Hamburg for the Artistic and Cultural Organisation Programme. Since 2016 he has worked as a freelance videographer in the Department of Teaching and Research of the Urban Design Department at HafenCity University Hamburg, and is the co-developer of the experimental ethnographic film and film essay teaching format Knowledge of Design - Design of Knowledge.
